Just recently, the patent for the SEC has expired and any company can now use the design, but not the words "Stephen's Extended Cutaway" anywhere on the guitar unless authorized by Steve Davies himself. Here are some designs which have been made by others since the SEC patent expired.

Funky Munky Music

Jon Klutier at Funky Munky Music, a dedicated and hardcore fan of the SEC, has been the largest dealer of the Washburn Nuno Bettencourt series and has since made some of his own variations of the N4 using exotic woods and 7 strings - Here are some photos of some FMM guitars that have been completed:

Other custom one-offs

The Swan Signature Guitar.
A custom guitar that was made for someone who had tried an N4 but wanted the extended cutaway on a different instrument. Not much is known about this one.

A custom 36 fretter by Haydn Williams which was inspired by the EC36 design.
